Ingredients
  

Coating
  • 2 cups Cornflakes Can substitute with any unsweetened cereal.
Patties
  • 500 grams Beef Mince Lean mince is preferred, can use turkey or chicken.
  • 1 tablespoon Basil Fresh or dried as an alternative.
  • 1 large Egg For an egg-free option, use flaxseed meal with water.
  • ½ cup Plain Flour Gluten-free flour can be used.
Baking
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Any neutral oil will work.
Assembly
  • 4 pieces Mini Burger Buns Whole grain or gluten-free buns are alternatives.
  • 4 slices Lettuce Can swap with other greens or cucumbers.
  • 4 slices Tomato Fresh slices for crunch.
  • 4 tablespoons Tomato Ketchup BBQ sauce or mustard can be used instead.

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (or 180°C for fan ovens) and set to gas mark 6.
  2. Crush cornflakes in a freezer bag until they resemble rough flakes.
  3. Combine beef mince, basil, and ground pepper in a bowl. If using lean mince, fold in 1 tablespoon of beaten egg.
  4. Prepare two plates: one with plain flour and another with the remaining beaten egg.
  5. Shape a sixth of the mince mixture into a small burger patty.
  6. Coat the patty in flour, dip it in beaten egg, and finally roll it in the crushed cornflakes.
  7. Place the patties on an oiled baking sheet and repeat until all mixture is used.
  8. Brush oil on the top of each burger and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Serve mini burgers in soft buns, topped with lettuce, tomato, and ketchup.
